Over the past two decades, the world has made tremendous progress towards the United
Nations’ sustainable development goal (SDG) number seven, namely, access to affordable and clean energy. Multilaterals such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank spend billions of dollars each year in efforts to achieve SDG-7’s goal of universal access, which has enabled millions of households across the world to get connected to the electricity grid.
