Keynote Lecture: NIH National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke Workshop on Novel Approaches to Preventing Publication Bias

In this interdisciplinary workshop organized by the National Institute of Health, Ted Miguel addressed the critical importance of enhancing the credibility and utility of scientific research. He began his talk by reminding the audience of the four foundational principles of scientific ethos, drawing on the work of Robert Merton. He then focused his lecture on three key themes: the scientific ethos and its relationship to publication bias, discussed trends in research transparency across the social sciences, and closed by sharing new evidence on publication bias in economics. He also highlighted common issues and lessons regarding publication bias that span both biomedical research and social sciences.
